With the ever-changing social media algorithms, you might find yourself scratching your head about the best times to post for your business. People spend an average of 34 minutes per day browsing through their Facebook feed, so how can you make sure that your posts are seen during that window of time? We’ll help you get rid of the guesswork and tell you everything you need to know about the best posting times to grow your audience and get the best engagement.
Why is this important? In 2020, the average internet user spent 145 minutes per day on social media. You have over two hours per day to reach, capture, and engage your audience.
No two brands are the same.
Each business targets a unique audience, which means that the best times to post will vary. If you are comparing your business to another that is in a different time zone, their best times to post will be different from yours. Think about the local audience you are trying to reach and cater to their feeds.
Look at your previous top-performing posts.
Your previous posts can give you valuable insights about techniques to try for your social media strategy. The top-performing posts for your business can help you identify any patterns for the best days of the week and times to post. This can be a very time-consuming task, but our content team can create easy-to-read social media reports that showcase your profile’s performance and top-performing posts.
Post when your followers are online.
The best way to get engagement on your content is to post when your customers are likely to be online. This is one of the most effective ways to improve your organic reach. Many social media algorithms prioritize the most recent posts first, so it’s ideal to target times when your followers will be checking out their feeds. For example, think about when your audience will be on their lunch break or checking their phones after work. You’ll want to keep track of the most common times that your followers engage with social media and post during those hours.
Constantly watch for changes.
Social media is a fast-paced place where the algorithms are always changing. The ideal times to post today may be different in one month or even one week from now. You’ll want to be keeping an eye on your social media and watch for any shifts in your engagement.
Don’t get discouraged.
Not every post you make is going to hit the mark, but don’t let that get you down! Even posts with low engagement can help you figure out what works and what doesn’t for your social media. Take this opportunity to test out other times to find what works best for your business.
Read and use the data you’re given.
If you are not a WhiskerCloud customer and are managing your own social media, it does not mean that you don’t have access to wonderful tools that can help you. Facebook provides a number of insights on their platform for Facebook Business Managers.
To see Page Insights:
- From your News Feed, click Pages in the left menu.
- Go to your Page.
- Click Insights in the left menu.
Insights provide information about your Page’s performance, like demographic data about your audience and how people are responding to your posts. Keep in mind that you can only access data in Page Insights for the last 2 years, and demographic data—such as age, gender, and location—are available in Page Insights once there is data for 100 or more people. Pages categorized as a Community Page don’t have Insights.
You can use Insights to:
- Understand how people are engaging with your Page.
- View metrics about your Page’s performance.
- Learn which posts have the most engagement and see when your audience is on Facebook.
To sum it all up, there isn’t a catch-all best time to post on social media, and there are a lot of factors that you’ll need to take into consideration when setting up your social media strategy.
